JM Knives

JM Knives is a bladesmithing workshop at The Tannery in Woolston, Christchurch, started by a maker who was sharpening knives at a farmers market and concluded that what people actually needed was better knives.

The workshop specialises in kitchen knives designed to cut through food easily and smoothly while staying comfortable to use, and also makes hunting knives, with laminated 1084 high carbon steel blades, wrought iron or nickel cladding, and timber and brass handles; custom leather sheaths can be added. Alongside the knives it runs a one-day knife forging class where people with no experience forge, shape and finish their own blade, and it offers sharpening and repair.
