Smoke 'n' Barrel

Smoke 'n' Barrel is the product of chefs Chris Geary and Cory Blackburn. The pair met in January 2O17 while working in a café in the Christchurch CBD and began discussing their mutual passion for traditional cooking and 'slow food'. Chris built his first barrel smoker from a hot water cylinder and became a regular fixture at markets, festivals and events around Canterbury. Since then the company has developed down-to-earth catering menus, and in August 2O18 opened a container restaurant in downtown Christchurch. As the city became less transitional, the container moved on and the team joined forces with Brew Academy for almost three years before opening their very own location in March 2023 at 616 Ferry Road, Woolston.
